Product Label or Packaging Label?

Product Label

Usually identifies or describes the product itself.

Packaging Label

Often brands, seals or adds information to the package around the product.

There’s overlap between the two, and these aren’t rigid industry definitions. If you need a label that identifies what’s inside, Product Labels is the better starting point.

The right material can depend on the surface you’re applying the label to. A coated box, a kraft box, tissue, a bag and a pouch can all take a label differently.

Artwork considerations

01

Think about where the label gets applied

A seal on a flap, a label across a seam, or one centered on a flat face all need different placement margins. Decide the application point before finalizing size.

02

Folds and edges change how artwork reads

If the label crosses a fold, seam or box edge, keep important text and logos away from that line.

03

Tissue and bags take adhesive differently than boxes

A soft or textured surface can affect how a label sits. Tell us the surface if you're unsure which material fits.
