What is Semi-Gloss Paper?
Semi-Gloss Paper is a coated paper label stock with a smooth surface and a subtle sheen. It sits between a high-gloss appearance and a completely flat matte look, making it an easy choice when you want a clean printed label without a highly reflective finish.
Because the base material is paper, it also feels different from our polypropylene label stocks. If your application calls for a synthetic material, compare Semi-Gloss Paper with White PP or Matte PVC before choosing your stock.
Why choose Semi-Gloss Paper?
A straightforward paper option for labels used on bottles, jars, boxes and other everyday packaging.
The coated surface has some reflection without the stronger shine associated with a high-gloss finish.
Add lamination, foil or Spot UV when your design calls for something beyond the standard printed surface.

Semi-Gloss Paper vs. Matte PVC
These materials can both give you a more restrained surface than a high-gloss look, but the biggest difference is the material itself. Semi-Gloss is a coated paper stock, while Matte PVC is a white synthetic film.
Still deciding? See Matte PVC Labels for a closer look at the synthetic option.
Artwork considerations
Keep important content inside the cut line
Keep text, logos and other important design elements safely inside the edge of the finished label so normal cutting tolerance does not affect them.
Set up foil and Spot UV separately
If your design includes foil or Spot UV, those areas need to be clearly identified in the artwork so we know exactly where the specialty finish should be applied.
You'll see a proof before production
Every order receives a digital proof before production so you can review the artwork and configuration before it moves forward.
